MERCER consulting has just published the 2015 edition of its annual Quality of Living Survey. This measures the quality of life for expatriates in cities around the world, so helping governments and multinational business set remuneration packages for their staff posted abroad.
They survey studies those factors which expats believe have a significant impact on their quality of life in a new country. More than 230 towns and cities were analysed in this new edition, with quality of life factors sorted into ten categories: the political and social environment; the economic environment; the socio-cultural environment; the health system; the education system; public services and public transport; leisure facilities; consumer products; housing; the natural environment.
Luxembourg was ranked 19th best in the world in 2015, behind the top three Vienna, Zurich and Auckland. Just looking at Europe, Munich came in third with the Luxembourg ranked 12th, or 9th if just EU cities were considered.
