Luxembourg ranks 3rd in DHL Global Connectedness Index 2012

20 December, 2012

Luxembourg joins the Netherlands and Singapore at the top of the 2012 Global Connectedness Index, as published by DHL. Luxembourg has climbed two positions in the ranking, rising from 5th in the previous edition, and overtaking Switzerland and Ireland in the process.

The report is a comparative study of 140 countries around the world of their global connectivity, on the assumption that the opportunities offered to countries open to globalisation are important, and public policy favouring exchanges, have a major impact on future economic growth.

The index calculated by DHL to measure this connectivity is entirely based on quantitative data related to international flows across four categories: flow of goods and services, capital flows, information flows and flows of people. This analysis is achieved both regarding connectivity in depth (domestic measurement) and in breadth (international measurement).
